South Suburban College outdone by VU Blazers, 7-2

VU Blazers beat South Suburban College 7-2 on Thursday behind Robbie Doring, who had two extra base hits. He doubled in the first and third innings and singled in the fifth and eighth innings. Drew Johnston shut down South Suburban College while he was on the mound. Drew held South Suburban College hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one. VU Blazers was sparked by Robbie and Trent Simpson, who teamed up for six hits and four RBIs. VU Blazers never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring three runs on two doubles. After pushing across one run in, the top of the third, South Suburban College faced just a 3-1 deficit. An RBI double by the Bulldogs fueled South Suburban College's comeback. Finally, Jason Reboulet got Bulldog’s to fly out to end the threat. After a quick strike from South Suburban College, VU Blazers responded with one run in the third. VU Blazers scored on an RBI double by Robbie. VU Blazers built upon its lead with three runs in the fifth. An error scored Trent for the inning's first run. One run in the top of the sixth helped South Suburban College close its deficit to 7-2. A groundout by the Bulldogs SS turns off South Suburban College rally. Drew ended the inning by getting Bulldogs to ground out.
